It’s that time again! Whether you’re single, married, or somewhere in between, you can’t help but to feel love floating in the air as Valentine’s Day approaches. I wanted to drop in to remind you that no matter where you are on your journey, loving YOU is the first step to experiencing true fulfilling love. Though this may sound cliché, the reality is self-love transforms our approach to relationships, happiness, and wellness.
So, during this season of love, I want to encourage you to take a few moments to truly love you. I've put together five fun things you can do to show yourself some love and boost your wellness this month.
Reflection: When’s the Last Time You Really Showed Up for YOU?
Take a few moments to reflect on the last time you really showed up for yourself. Did you give yourself a little TLC at the spa? Did you stand up for your needs? Or did you simply allow yourself to take a break? Think about one thing you can do before February 14, to show up for yourself. Write down what that would look like and what 2025 goal that would support.
Let It Go: What Are You Holding On To? What baggage can you let go off this month? Is it an old grudge, negative self-talk, or an outdated belief about yourself? Today is the perfect day to let go of whatever has been weighing you down. You have permission to make room for more love, joy, and peace in your life. Write down what you have been holding on to and how it’s impacted your life thus far. Write down what you envision life being like without this baggage?
Celebrate You: Treat Yourself to Something Special Sometimes we wait for special occasion or holidays for other people to make us feel special, but what does it look like to treat yourself to something special? Do you have a favorite meal, a special treat, an outfit you’ve been looking at, or even a movie you’ve wanted to watch, but just haven’t had the time. This one is all about you! Make time to make YOU feel loved!
Gratitude Check: What Do You Love About Yourself? If I asked you what were five things you loved about someone else, I bet you’d be able to list the things quickly! But tell me… what are five things you love about yourself? Write down the 5 things and place them somewhere that you can see them often. If you're having trouble thinking of things, take a deep breath and remember: you are more than worthy of this kind of love and recognition.
Be Present and Show Compassion This season is a powerful reminder to extend the kindness we often reserve for others to ourselves. Take 5 minutes to sit quietly, tune into your feelings, and simply be—without judgment or the need to change anything. In those moments, offer yourself compassion and remind yourself that you are enough—just as you are, right now. You deserve to feel at peace with yourself, without striving to be anything more.
As you navigate this month of love, I want you to remember one thing: you are worthy of your own love and care, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY! This season is not just about celebrating love with others—it’s about recognizing that the relationship you have with yourself is the foundation for everything else. So, please appreciate everything about you!
Loving yourself is the most powerful thing you can do for your health, happiness, and relationships.
If no one else has told you today, I love you, and I’m proud of you.
Keep going, and remember, you are enough.
With love,
Shekinah
